You're right! That is gold that ole 49r won't want to recover.

Ah! but then that's because there's so much above-ground gold to recover from other sources! If, however, above-ground sources of gold are not as 'plentiful' as they are now, I am sure ole 49r might do something about IT! For now, I am sure ole 49r prefers only the chocolate!

BTW, gold brings out the best and worst in people.

Prescott wrote in "The Conquest of Peru", that "there is no mountain so high that an ass laden with gold will not pass...." So, by the same token, there's no task so awful and pungent that s--t 'laden' with gold will not be treated in order to get at the gold.
