Applied Micro Circuits
Upbeat Analyst Meeting
10 November 1999

Investment Highlights:
* The company held an upbeat analyst meeting after the market close on Tuesday.

* We left the meeting with increased confidence in the company's ability to meet or beat our FY00 and FY01 estimates.

* AMCC remains a leading supplier of high-end SONET components which are used in optical transmission equipment, and we expect the company to continue to benefit from the buildout of Internet transmission infrastructure. We reiterate our Accumulate/Buy rating on the stock. Our 12-to-18-month price objective is $105 based on 27x our FY01 revenue estimate.

Fundamental Highlights:
* Demand for bandwidth remains strong at ISPs, which bodes well for suppliers of SONET components such as AMCC.

* Management indicated that they are not seeing a buildup of inventory at equipment OEMs due to Y2K concerns.

* The company continues to see good design activity at suppliers of high-end communications equipment.
