Charles..thanks for your views. And I think most of the comments are historically accurate. As regards GWB, however, my understanding is that the vast majority of his campaign contributions are coming from small contributors. Not that I don't think he would have some heavyweight backers. But just to avoid letting folks think we are ENTIRELY cynical of the political process -- my opinion is pretty low, but I retain that faint edge of hope <G>

Klien: Snappy Comeback, the competitors ARE the consumers!!

Duke: Reread 1984 by George Orwell for a good analysis of the concept of "Doublethink" Or for that matter, William L. Lederrer, "A Nation of Sheep", but I think the latter is out of print, now. (But probably easier to find that Klien's logic, though.)
