Eureka,

Bob Grutza found at least part of the answer...

Message 11886000

A DowJones Newswire release indicating that one of MTSN's customers TSMC just got its board approval to start a 12 inch wafer fab. Even if TSMC wasn't a MTSN customer, there's not too many competitors with 300mm tools proven in production.

The article went on to talk about TSMC adding 4 fabs.

That would probably get some attention.

Ian.

Ian, I assume that MTSN did present at the AEA conf. I say this because last night on his recorded message Michael Murphy briefly reported on presentations made in San Diego earlier in the week. In doing this, he commented that MTSN is growing at three times the industry rate and that they are also taking market share from others. He further commented that the stock was way behind the rest of the group for no good reason. He predicted a move to 18 in the near term. His comments may be responsible for today's action. Phil

The whole sector gapped up this morning. I don't think it is anything company-specific.
