I guess I'll never know. I guess adoption is out of the question, too, huh? I guess spending my early adult years working two jobs to get my BS going to school part time didn't allow me much time to make mistakes(only took about 8 years to get a 4 year degree). Or maybe I was just being responsible. I don't know. Maybe I should have just been joy riding, all along. But let me tell you, despite all that, I'm having the time of my life now, and though I don't compromise my wife's privacy by telling stories, I'm very satisfied with the love we share and with my life in general. Am I upset that I missed out on all the pleasure I could have had? No. Am I glad that I don't have to look back and wish I could undo a decision I would have helped create? Yes.

pezz, the question to me, is how did this new life begin? Was it because the woman was promiscuous in her sexual affairs? Was it because she was careless in using normal methods of contraception? Did she willingly engage in intercourse? If so, then she is responsible to pay the consequences. If the man was careless in using contraceptives, he bears the burden of providing what ever is necessary for that woman to have the best possible quality of life. If she was raped, or the victim of incest, a reasonable case can be made for abortion. If the mother's life is put in danger by some problem caused by the pregnancy, there is a case for abortion, and if the fetus is so malformed as to indicate no possibility of living through the ordeal of birth, there is a case for abortion. The main point I try to make, is that abortion on demand, as a form of contraception,or merely for convenience, is murder.

< I wonder if you would be unhappy to give up your career and stay home and baby sit for the next eighteen years ??>

Nope. That's why we use various methods to prevent pregnancy. And, if for some reason, you/she still gets pregnant, that doesn't preclude college or require staying home or abortion. It may require an attitude adjustment concerning how much work you have to do, or how much sleep you get.

My daughter experienced a "surprise pregnancy". (she thought the rhythm method worked, it did 'till she lost count. LOL) Anyway, she went on and got her RN, and is now working on her bs in nursing. All I got was a grand-daughter and another grandaughter.

Children (in these cases) are the result of negligence, ignorance, stupidity, or arrogance. none of which is a fatal error.

Edit: serendipitous grub, 1st ever!

Well ,well ,surprise, surprise.I mention the word abortion and get a plethora of replies all from the new guys who weren't here for the last round. ... If you want my answers you will have to go back about ten thousand posts on the Sanity Thread ... I ain't gonna repeat'em........Been there done that...
Suffice to say you all take it as a given that a fetus is a human being. Fine suit your selves. But in doing so your argument to me about responsibility etc. is useless as I don't see it that way. I do not believe that a fetus is a human being! Therefore no responsibility to turn it into one is implied! See ?
If you have daughters that got an education while having a child and did so without any financial or other help from mom and dad bravo for them.... I guess...Many are not able to do so..... Or choose not to do so....
Many years ago when young and foolish I got a girlfriend pregnant. Despite what you all say her potential collage career would have been postponed or never happened had she allowed the pregnancy to proceed . She had no understanding family to help....I financed the abortion! .... Yes I did...... Do I feel that I didn't live up to my responsibilities....... What responsibilities? Since you all are incapable of grasping any viewpoint but your own I know that this horrifies the lot of you....So be it.. I do not believe that a fetus is a human being! Call me all the nasty names you like ....I care not....I think for myself and will in, the fullness of time, gladly stand before my maker and happily await judgment........Before you all rush to tell me what that judgment will be let me say that in spite of what you are so sure of none of you are privy to the will of the supreme being. So I care not for your opinion. To this day I see no difference between that abortion which prevented a human from being born and if I had used a contraceptive to prevent a human from being born..... Except that I believe it cost me what was a tidy sum at the time.
