=DJ Rhythms Net CEO Leaves Profit Predictions To Analysts

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Rhythms NetConnections Inc.'s (RTHM) chief executive defers to
analysts on when the company will turn a profit.
"I'll turn that over to the analysts," Catherine Hapka said when asked when Rhythms
will turn a profit in a CNBC interview Thursday. "The analysts are who we always refer
to."
Rhythms reported a third-quarter loss of 89 cents a share Wednesday, narrower than the
consensus estimate of a 97-cent loss compiled from First Call/Thomson Financial analyst
surveys.
Hapka said the company receives an average of about $131 a month in revenue for each
high-speed Internet line it provides.
Rhythms targets primarily small and medium-size businesses, she said. Some small
businesses may only have one connection to a local area network, but the company also
reaps revenue from services it provides over each line, she added.
The market for high-speed Internet connections is "white hot," Hapka said.
