grif:

...but what happens when, for example, the WSJ runs an article discussing how DRIV fits in with WMT's strategy of responding to the Amazon challenge?

Along these lines, AOL announced last Thursday that they were investing $30 million for 3% of Blockbuster's website. Hmmm. Why would one of the most recognizable brands around want part of the net strategy of a "bricks and mortar" company? Because 5 years from now (hoping it's sooner) when 15 percent of the U.S. populace is able to download a movie for multiple tolled viewings, the "place" they will go is the same as it is today: Blockbuster - dot com version. Somebody needs to help them set it up. Joel Ronning - Are you listening?

My guess on today's surge ...

I speculate that today's move reflected the alliance of Microsoft and Tandy/Radio Shack and Radioshack.com. Isn't it true that DRIV supports Radioshack.com in Canada?

Could be a very strong tie-in here. That is my guess.

Regards.
