Gottfried,

>>>A USB floppy costs nearly as much as a USB ZIP. Around $100.
Another example where the manufacturer saves the $15 for the floppy and the customer spends six times as much to correct that mistake.<<<

I confronted that scenario when I bought my PowerBook G3 a while back. It doesn't come with a floppy drive. The problem was easily solved by using my older system to transfer every floppy's data to Zip disks - it took two Zips. After that I have no need for a floppy. Occasionally someone wants a file of mine - I give it to him on a Zip. I only have problems when the other guy doesn't have a Zip - then I e-mail the file to him.

Really, you can buy a USB floppy add-on, but it's a tremendous waste of money once you've switched out of the floppy world.
