Jeff and Dragonfly:
Jeff...I agree with everything you said. I believe deeming LORAL as the best "VALUE" play relative to risk would be appropriate. Don't get me wrong...I love the Globalstar concept....and I feel that it will succeed....it's just that I believe LORAL is the best play when you take in the potential revs from Globalstar PLUS Broadband. This is just my opinion..and I wish you the best. I will confess...that after getting my teeth kicked in on IRIDIUM I learned a powerful lesson. Motorola was where I should have been there. I'd be laughing all the way to the bank right now...but no...I had to go for the PURE PLAY and consequently paid the supreme price. So...relative to my IRIDIUM experience....Loral is a safe haven for me to have a nice diversified position in SATCOM (both telephony and broadband) and if Globalstar tanks...God forbid...I will still have something left by having a postion in Loral. Good luck Jeff :). I was in Globalstar from the beginning and just recently shifted my position from Globalstar to Loral. I couldn't take the heat in the kitchen so I had to get out.

Dragonfly.....I feel your pain on Iridium and Loral. It's amazing to me that Loral languishes as it does. You don't need to be an analyst to recognize LORAL as a company steeped in potential and run by top notch management. Yahoo indicates little in the way of insider purchases of LORAL in 99...but in 98 it was being acquired between 20-30 per share. One thing must be said....B.S. certainly puts his money where his mouth his regarding both Lor and GSTRF. Best wishes and here's to LORAL's success...if and when. PS>>>>In my opinion..the heavy volume today is linked to more than a MSFT rumor...and I'm hopeful of encouraging news before year end. Did you listen to the LOR conference call. BS did not seem stressed in the least....as a matter of fact he was extremely relaxed and taking everything in stride...and very positive about the future . I believe LORAL'S projections for GSTAR in 2000 are extremely pumped up though....and it would seem that Wall Street feels the same way. It's going to take much longer than 1 year (in my opinion) to generate 1 million paying subscribers. I simply can't see the subscriber base building nearly as quickly as they believe it will. 3 years maybe...but not 1. That being said...patience is the key...and accumulating LORAL looks to be a reasonable approach in my mind.It will also be interesting to see what emerges from the ashes of IRIDIUM. My suspicion is that we are all going to be in for a surprise...on the upside there. It's unfortunate that we current shareholders will not be along for the ride. Dragonfly....did you listen to Stianno on his last Iridium conference call. He made it sound like IRIDIUM was set to conquer the world. The phones were working wonderfully...the Claircom deal was announced (which never made sense to me in the first place) and blah blah blah. What a joke! I have learned that Stianno likes to lift weights when he's flying around on his Lear Jet. Well Dr. Stianno.....I'll have you an arm wrestle any day...and I'll beat you fair and square. That's certainly not how IRIDIUM has treated it's shareholders.
