Bill Gates, chairman of Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft, said the
five-year deal with RadioShack will let the world's biggest software

conversion of Internet users to high-speed access.

The new Microsoft store-within-a-store is scheduled to debut in the
third quarter of next year in RadioShack's 5,000 company-owned
stores and up to 2,000 additional RadioShack dealers.

RadioShack has recently struck other alliances with RCA to sell its
digital entertainment gear, Compaq Computer Corp (NYSE:CPQ -
news). and Sprint.

Both companies said they will market each other's brands
beginning late next year. Microsoft will pay to install its presence in
RadioShack stores, and the Fort Worth-based retailer will be a
