Thanks for sharing your personal memories of WW2 with us, Everett. They help to put Veteran's Day in perspective. Brave guys and gals like you made the personal sacrifices that built today's USA. Thank you on behalf of my generation and the ones to follow.

Everett, yours is the generation that made the most sacrifice in modern times for this country. Generations throughout the world owe you for the wars you fought which were finally won in 1990. We owe you for your efforts in the 50-70's in building the world's greatest economy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

OT: No, I wasn't in the Division during WWII, but served during the "quiet period" following the Korean action. Never left the states except to make three jumps in Greenland. However, I was in the Division PIO (Public Information Office) and in the course of my writing for the Paraglide and Ft. Bragg News, I did a lot of research into the Division's WWII history...including a story (didn't keep a copy) of the events you describe. This has been quite a day for me....many personal Veteran messages...each one an emotional tug, and I'm very susceptible to those kinds of things. Thank you very much for passing along your memories, and thank you as well for the part you played in keeping the world free for the rest of us. I salute you.

UF: I really don't care if this is OT....and I don't think there's a G&K thread junkie out there who does either. If there is, his/her objection would be out of place.
