I DID I DID play marbles -with my brother. Mostly becuase I LOVED the way marbles looked back then. They were prettier; they weren't all cat's eyes, and even the cat's eyes were more irregular. There were some with fractured glass that you could hold up to the sun and look through like kaleidoscopes. And some with multicolored spots. I wanted to OWN them, just to have them to arrange and look at, or use in magic spells. I had a glass doorknob that I used as a crystal ball or sometimes as a space and time transporter. And a little flying carpet taht took me to magic places. Oh, and the magic staircase that went nowhere.

Sheesh, I played marbles. All the girls did. And we had yo-yo's. I'm wondering where y'all grew up that there was such sharp delinitation over innococuous things as marbles and yo-yo's. Boy/girl's smoils. Boy's didn't jump-rope. That's the only thing I remember. Other than that, we pretty much played together.
