Mooter, i think we can safely say the naked
shorts are definitely in bed with CC. All
day we have seen tons of shares at the ask.
This is NOT natural "selling the news".
Sellers wishing to maximize profits would
not show their hand as they dump and on this
kind of news sellers would have let the price
ride up then maybe you'd see a spike as they
started selling.

That did not happen at all. They were offering
tons on the ask from the open today.
I am sure that CC is using their shares,
which they are guarenteed a profit on,
to supress the price and let their naked
short friends get out. this is very well
orchestrated and highly disciplined action.

very, very soon the entire short position will be
gone and the price will naturally rise because all
the price suppression and the very large extra supply
will be gone.

Well, ain't that the shyte. How's that? Here I've been chanting for management to come through with a certain announcement, and on the day they do so I've gotta be nailed and bound up in a major client meeting. Ain't that the way it always is? Heh! Good meeting though.

And from what I've been able to derive, since nobodies provided a summary(hint, hint), it sounds like the conference call went pretty well? And I see MM's, from what I can see of an intra-day graph, clearly had their "let's take this thing down a notch" play for a weee bit of time, too. So it goes.

So we can now add further information to my former posting to newbies. We can state that VLNC has announced their very first P.O.. It may be small, but it's a clear vote of confidence in their products efficacy. This goes a long way towards assuaging the markets concerns, me thinks. And what will nail the coffin lid shut on all the negativists concerns will be a rapid follow-thru of more p.o.'s. And since somebody's broken the ice with this initial signing, it's reasonable to assume other's will follow in the appropriate "me too" manner. In other words, with this announcement Lev has officially open the doors for business.

Now it becomes a sales driven organization(imho), one balanced and tuned to the continuing build-out of capability, so I look forward to seeing more p.o.s out of their sales V.P.. I further think it's now just about safe to move this equity from my speculative grouping, to one more related to long term, semi-risky, growth. Now on to another speculation. For folks interested in optical networking, fiber, etc., ya might want to look into LUMM, who appears to have develop 64 channel DWDM capability, ON A CHIP!!! This one could go to the moon.(sorry for the spam)

As for VLNC....well...looking back over the past couple three years I just gotta say......to paraphrase a certain classic song...what a long, strange trip it has been, eh? Ya know....some of us are just gonna have to get together some day and toast this story....preferably somewhere warm and toasty....uh....that's in the weather....not as in the state of mind. ;-)

Now let's see how it goes between now and years end...

Regards!

John~

Mooter, you wrote:

"If you are short, Cathi, and I suspect you are, you probably have as much as 2-4 weeks to cover, before you find the impact of second or third orders for Valence batteries."

I appreciate your attempt to be helpful to me, but not only am I not short VLNC....I have never shorted a stock in my life. Not that I have any objections to shorting....just find being long stocks risky enough for my tastes.

As a matter of fact, I am STILL long VLNC. Though I did try to exit twice several months ago. (First time put the limit sell order in right at the bid....too greedy..:-)....not filled. Second time, weeks later, MMs were "too greedy", because I put the limit sell order in two ticks BELOW the bid and still did not get filled.) I attempted to sell because I felt it was clear VLNC would be under a LOT of pressure from the floorless and it was.

I have no way of knowing how credible Castle Creek's word to VLNC is regarding their hedging (or lack thereof.) Personally, after owning 5 stocks that ended up in a floorless situation (and only one of those...SCUR...already had the floorless when I bought) I find it MUCH SAFER to assume that the debenture holders will, indeed, hedge their interests sufficiently. (BTW, just as a note of interest, SCUR announced on Monday that the last tranche of their floorless with Castle Creek had been converted. Interestingly, the stock was already soaring and continued to.....no apparent selling by Castle Creek of their newly converted shares certainly lends credence to the idea that they had ALREADY hedged those shares.)

Last, but not least, I do not think today's market response was "ok" as you put it. I own many stocks that have shot up like gangbusters on mere rumors. We have waited over 2 years for today's announcement. I consider this announcement to be very "material." This is absolutely the first independent verification that this technology is viable. So, I find it quite puzzling that there wasn't a better market response. And when the market does not respond the way it could be expected to to a given event, it behooves an investor to look for the reason why. That's what I am doing, Mooter....looking for the reason why.
