In its usual smart business approach, AMD has decided to spend some more money it doesn't have to proclaim to US consumers on National TV that its Athlon is, "faster than a Pentium III at any speed." The commercial will air for the first time on Sunday, November 14, 1999, on prime-time television. The new commercial will run through the holiday season, nationwide on the ABC network and ESPN. It will appear on prime-time shows like Monday Night Football, Spin City, The Practice, The Drew Carey Show and during ABC's Thanksgiving-night movie, Forest Gump. <While AMD's speed claim certainly was true prior to the October 25th launch of the Coppermine E series Pentium IIIs, it is not supported by independent testing today. This is just another example of AMD's usual business practice of a day late and a dollar short.>
