I am focused on civil liberties, but am not associated with the Libertarian movement, whose purposes I have never figured out exactly, although I get the impression that chaos is one of them.

lol :)

I am a small 'l' libertarian myself and very focused on civil liberties as well. It was small 'l' libertarians I was referring to and I consider civil liberty as an essentially libertarian issue. The big 'L' Libertarians are another story. I've been a member of the party since '72 and vote Libertarian in most elections but I have no illusions about the party. Most big 'L' Libertarians are certifiably nuts and I put the odds of our electing anyone as pretty low. Chaos is a good day -g- but they are fun people.
