ScanSoft's Pagis Pro the First Digital Imaging Software Suite to Integrate HP JetSend Technology
Users of the Next Generation of Pagis Able to Connect to More Than Five Million JetSend-enabled Devices
PEABODY, Mass., Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Through a collaboration with Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE: HWP), ScanSoft, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSFT) today announced that the next generation of their award-winning Pagis Pro will be the first digital imaging suite to offer HP's JetSend device-to-device communications protocol. Users of the new Pagis will be able to share documents with the more than five million JetSend-enabled devices in the marketplace, which include scanners, printers, digital cameras, handheld Windows CE devices, the HP CapShare 920 information-capturing appliance, and other image capture devices. The JetSend-enabled Pagis will be featured at the HP JetSend Solutions Pavilion at COMDEX this month.
"This collaboration with HP allows users of our next generation of Pagis to capture, share, print and leverage electronic information in ways they never thought possible. JetSend provides Pagis users with an intelligent solution to exchanging information between users working across the street or across the globe," said Wayne Crandall, ScanSoft's vice president of sales and channel marketing.
"The respective technologies behind JetSend and Pagis integrate well. Users will benefit from the ease, speed and convenience at which JetSend allows them to send and receive documents between mobile devices," said Atul Bhatnager, general manager of HP's Information Appliance Division.
By simply dragging the selected image over the JetSend icon located on the Pagis desktop, users can send documents to a JetSend-compliant device on the company network or remote site via an IP address. Once a connection is established, the two devices automatically configure the ideal communication settings, eliminating the need for software drivers and cables. In addition, images captured using a JetSend-enabled device, a digital camera for example, can be downloaded to Pagis through the infrared ports on the camera and PC.
