Greg, Maybe this post by Stewy after the close of market today will clarify the matter on Wavestar. Seems pretty positive to me. It addresses the concerns stated by "Marshall Dix" in the earlier post.

Answers to Questions

I had a friend at work take a digital photo of one of the Metropoint WaveStar units after manufacturing (actually one of the BackPlanes). I'll e-mail it tomorrow to those interested and you will see the Lucent logo pasted all over it.

As for the Lucent news let me repeat one more time.

Lucent's announcement regarding this new product is very positive for JDSU. Actually I knew 6 months ago that this was coming because the product was developed in the building I work at. It was technology originally developed by a company called Fitel Photomatrix which was a wholly owned subsidiary of Fukuwara Electronics in Japan. This company developed what was called the FM1000 product and this technology was so valuable that JDS Fitel purchased the Nepean, Ontario company in 1998 (see JDS Fitel news release at www.jdsunph.com).

How good is the technology?

Trust me, without going into details about the operating system, this product is signifiacnt to the future of JDSU. Lucent is very anxious about the Metropoint Wavestar product and if you look in the future earnings estimates you will definately see forecasts for the potential sales of this product.

Why can't you find information about JDS's link to the Lucent product?

Good question. And one which I asked my director in our quarterly's today. Indeed Metropoint is public information, but he said look at this way. Who makes the radiator in Ford cars? ......you don't know, and you don't care as long as it says Ford, GM, whatever on the outside. Well, whoever sells the rad to Ford doesn't care that their company is advertised as long as sales increase and the numbers show. This is the situation here. Lucent isn't going to publicly start advertising that the Wavestar product is really a designed, manufactured and sold product by JDSU, they don't need to. The only company that I can think offhand that does marketing in this manner is Intel. Although they don't build the computer they let you know that their product is inside using that little jingle followed by "Intel Inside". if that is what people are expecting from JDSU then I'm sorry but that likely won't happen.

So, Lucent's announcement about their product is one thing but the educated or even uneducated investor would be hard pressed to locate information that clearly states the JDSU input. However, look at our forecasted future earnings and you will see the results in black and white.

Explain the dip in stock price after the Lucent announcement.

I have no answer to this, although I remember when Boeing reported great earnings a few quarters ago and the stock went down. My answer is, ....the stock won't go up everyday and we have been spoiled by last week. Things will happen but in the end your shares will increase in value by a large amount. Patience my friends. If you were in for short term you would have sold last week, if you're in for the long run then let's stick together and not worry about dips.

Does JDSU sell to CISCO?

To be honest I don't see CISCO's name flying around all that often. I know that Nortel and Lucent are our two biggest customers, other than that you wouldn't believe at how many companies we sell to all over the world.

JDSU Facts.

7,200+ Employees worldwide in 8 countries.
We are expanding at approximately 104% a year.
Growth between 3rd and 4th quarter last fiscal year was 20% in revenues.

I hope to be starting a JDSU Public fact website in the next few months. This will be a board to let everyone know about great things in the company and to answer questions or just geneally meet fellow shareholders. i figure that heck, I'll be working here for the next 10-20 years so I might as well share the joy.

Any more questions I'd be happy to do my best.
