ROUND ROCK, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 11, 1999--Led by a
72-percent increase in sales of enterprise products, Dell Computer
Corporation (Nasdaq:DELL.O) posted record operating results, excluding
an acquisition charge, in its fiscal third quarter which ended Oct.
29.
Overall company shipments grew at more than double the industry
rate.
Dell's quarterly net revenue rose 41 percent to $6.78 billion.
Absent the charge, which was associated with the purchase of
ConvergeNet Technologies Inc., net earnings were $483 million, or 18
cents per share. The charge totaled $194 million, or seven cents per
share, making Dell's reported net earnings $289 million, or 11 cents
per share.
