Did you hear the one about the Thai Hydro-electric project

A British consortium bid 1 billion baht to build the facility
A German consortium bid 2 billion baht to build the facility

And the winner was...
A local Thai firm, who bid 3 billion to build the facility, one billion for themselves, one billion for the Thai Government and one billion for the British consortium to do the work

Morale of the story....
Do not let your ethnocentric thinking of North American business values cloud your judgement about business in Asia. And by the way, Thailand is more democratic than China.

To verify this story, talk to any individual who lives in Pattaya, Thailand. It was the running joke of the "falang" community for the last year.

By the way, how many milli-cents would you pay for a Chinese yuan?
