Armin --

I've learned a lot since the Amati days. One thing's certain, there's always another train and will be for a long time to come. If you get a chance --- and have the interest --- listen to the three keynote addresses from the NGN conference last week.

Having bought the tapes while at the conference, I listened to Evslin's again today and was impressed with how well he outlines the business case for IP telephony. Gerry Butters addresses the optical network and what's driving it and James Crowe explains silicon economics for the converged network.

As one of them said, every switch, line, router, connector, component in the entire world will eventually have to be changed. Sort of staggers the imagination. And considering everyone agrees we're moving to an all-optical backbone, this puts a few companies squarely in the path of prosperity. If they miss, they have no excuse.

But I ramble. . .
