SALT LAKE CITY, Nov 9, 1999 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Fonix(TM)
Corporation (Nasdaq: FONX) announces the appointment of Mark S. Tanner
to the company's Board of Directors. Tanner is currently the chief
financial officer and senior vice president of finance and
administration for Mrs. Fields. Tanner's 20-year management career has
focused on building corporate value in multinational, turnaround and
high-growth corporations as well as not-for-profit entities.

Tanner spent nine years at PepsiCo where he was CFO for Pepsi
International's $1.5 billion operations in Asia, the Middle East and
Africa. He was vice president of strategic planning for Pepsi North
America, an $8 billion enterprise, as well as CFO for Pepsi North
America's $2 billion Pepsi East Operations. Tanner also spent 10 years
with United Technologies Corporation in various capacities, including
director of corporate development for the large Fortune 20
conglomerate. Tanner holds a BA in economics from Stanford University
and a MBA from UCLA.
