LE--The best article was from dow jones today, in which it was clear that the conference call allayed fears from what was an initial overreaction. Look for a bounce tomorrow.

excerpt:

<<Lands' End and other analysts saw little to be concerned about.

Chief Financial Officer Orum said the results weren't surprising and that the company expects catalogs will always be part of its business. Any changes in the company's current catalog strategy will wait until the current six-month testing period is over and the results are analyzed, which will be in the early spring, Orum said.

ABN Amro's Silverman said the testing would ensure that Lands' End uses "the optimal contact strategy with customers." He also expects to see significant cost savings from fewer, thinner catalogs and from a decrease in paper correspondence in favor of e-mail.

The company also told analysts that 20% of its Web site customers are new additions, a number Orum said was pleasing and met expectations.

Analysis of this information differed widely among analysts. Matthews said the data raised questions about the Internet's ability to boost Lands' End's market share. But Holly L. Guthrie, an analyst at Janney Montgomery Scott, and Silverman considered it good news for a company with a household name.

"The fact they are still holding that newness rate is great," said Guthrie.

"To me that's gravy," said Silverman. "The Internet doesn't come to you, you go to it.">>
