RE-SEG takeover target. Fujitsu denies rumor. But if the market likes the rumor, that could easily be worth a few points or more. Somebody seems to be trying to push the stock price higher, and I personally don't mind.

Fujitsu says not in talks on Seagate takeover

TOKYO, Nov 12 (Reuters) - Fujitsu Ltd said on Friday it was not in talks on a takeover bid for
Seagate Technology Inc (NYSE:SEG - news), the world's biggest independent maker of computer disk drives.

``We are not discussing a takeover of Seagate Technology, nor considering to bid,' a Fujitsu
spokesman said.

The latest issue of U.S. magazine Business Week reported investment sources as saying that Fujitsu has expressed interest in Seagate and was discussing a takeover bid for at least $55 a share.

SEG indicated 2 points higher, based on takeover rumors.

It doesn't much matter if the rumors are true or not, SEG can still pop based on the rumors.

Sure, we'd all like to see the company make some real money, for a change. In the meantime, take what you can get.

NEW YORK (CBS.MW)

Seagate Technology shares (SEG: news, msgs) were boosted by 2 5/16 to 37 1/4 in
Instinet. The disk-drive maker's stock was pegged as a take-over target in the current issue of BusinessWeek. The report, citing an "investment pro," says Japan's Fujitsu was a likely suitor, as well as IBM.
