Petz,

Re:"breakeven"

I think they will be spending quite a bit on the ad campaign etc - around $20-30M.

In fact when the announced it was probably a pretty good signal they knew the quarter was in the bag.

Even still a modest profit would not be surprising- my forecast is maybe a $0.10 profit.

regards,

Kash.

Petz - RE: "BTW, I read the Reuters story and think breakeven is closer to 800M than 850M, which would explain the profit scenario a little better."

Looks like AMD has been sandbagging all over the place.

I think the line should be drawn somewhere. I don't think sandbagging TOO much is good. Especially this possible Dresden sandbag. If Dresden contributes in Q1 I will be kind of ticked. (Weird, huh?) If AMD could say Dresden will be in in Q1 and hit the target I will have more confidence in the company. And confidence is what matters.

Maybe AMD needs to sandbag so much because they aren't even sure themselves.

RE <<Hi guys, been at a course for 3 days. I saw the 1-7/8 pop yesterday with no explanation in the LA Times but had no clue till just now that AMD had exploded up so drastically today. BTW, I read the Reuters story and think breakeven is closer to 800M than 850M, which would explain the profit scenario a little better.>>>

Petz, its too bad you've been out of the loop; the LA Times was wrong and in fact, AMD is executing poorly. Right now it's dropping in after hours....don't bother to look, its very depressing.

I know its not what you were expecting, man, so I thought I would try to help you out and take your shares off your hands.....I can pay you $20 a pop; I'm not sure but I think that will leave you with a small profit. I'm trying to be a decent guy here.

BTW anyone else out there who's been out of the loop and was not aware of the bad news, and wants to get out from under your shares.....again I am offering $20 a pop.

Don't ask me why I am doing this....I guess I feel generous this week.
