I would agree with you from simple bandwidth or broadband perspective play. But looking a little deeper, you find that CHTR is one more piece of Paul Allen's internet strategy. I am thinking this has to be considered "out of the box".

When you consider that Paul Allen helped architect the quintessential "gorilla", it may be worth an indepth look.

The man is assembling an interesting array of content and delivery properties ( sort of like monopoly pieces). When you consider that one of the defining elements we look for are paradigm shifts brought about by discontinuous innovations, one could speculate that Allen, through his Vulcan Ventures, has a vision for the net that is beyond current thinking.
