Why do you say that? I know the Chinese consumption patterns inside out, but limited on the Indians. However, purely in the price/performance standpoint, even VIA's solutions may be too low for the consumers. Remember when the middle class in the third world contries buy an expensive piece of home appliance, they tend to buy as high end as possible. This is why you can see many ethnic Chinese drive cars or live in houses that exceed the average earnings/debt ratio. My point is mid-end CPUs are the most welcome solutions in those markets. K6-2 500 now and socket Athlon next year.
