Very negative vibes.???

I guess it's the old story. If you criticize Apple in any way it's "negative vibes". Hey I was there. I know about AKAMI. That's old news. They had a great idea and it looks like it will work. Their booth was a high point. Novell was there also and a couple of other competing server software companies. That WAS the action.

Anyone who has been following this thread knows I've been here two + years. I liked what Apple was doing then but I've grown steadily less satisfied as an Apple customer. There are concrete reasons for it.

Now if you have some reasoned arguments refuting what I wrote, then good for you, state them.

I stand by my statements. I like QuickTime. It beats the heck out of Real or Microserfs stuff. However the new QT player has a god awful stupid interface that doesn't conform to Apples own standards. Fact. Maybe I should have clarified that the player was the problem. That Apple would design an interface that deviates from their own published standards is dumb. That they did so on the jewel of thier software is double dumb. The operative statement here is "If it ain't broke don't fix it." The time they spent on this dumb interface could have been more profitably spent. Apple has invested too much money in dumb stuff like this lately in my opinion.

I also am suspicious that if Apple falls too far behind Real or Microserf technology, they may abandon it for greener pastures. Unfortunately, this has happened far too often. My impression is that they didn't put a lot of effort into this conference. As one who makes a living dealing with multimedia, I must be careful not to invest learning time or money in shaky technology.

I don't believe their promises anymore. I only believe it when I see it.

Take into account that there are many like me. If you follow other Mac threads you will find that Mac land is not the paradise some would have you believe. It's a nice place still but not as nice as it was. There is unrest below the rosey exterior painted by the spinmasters.
