The most important thing: P3 vs K7

Most CPU review sites forget multitasking.
Anand's and Tom's BACK to BACK benchmarks
consider only number.

User's feeling performance for athlon is much faster and
smoother than that for P3. Athlon has 128KByte L1 cache
and 512Kbyte L2 cache while Coopermine has 32k L1 and 256K L2.
(P3 Katmat has 512K L2.) If AMD could advertise this
advantage and Coopermine's pitfall, AMD and Athlon will win.

Athlon is excellent in multi-tasking compared with Intel's
new P3-Coppermine as well as in performance. When recording,
internet, gaming and word simultaneously, experienced users
say Athlon is much better choice than Coopermine.

As new Windows, SW and games require more speed and tasks,
Athlon will be proved to be the best.

Definitely, Athlon has much better architecture than Coopermine.
EV6 bus can provide advantages in multi-CPU computing of NT.

Much room for K7's BenchMark
by: uchung (37/M/Los Angeles)

Bench Mark test condition is not fair.

1. Motherboard and chipsets needs to be fully developed for
Athlon.
2. Current Athlon's L2 cache speed is 0.3times core speed
which becomes full speed later. Coopermine has full speed
L2cache.
3. 100Mhz SDRAM of Athlon Vs 400Mhz Rambus of Coopermine

Next year, new Athlon will outperform Coopermine easily with
new mother board and DDR SDRAM.

Goutama, <Changed code names from fighter planes to sports cars (Thunderbird, Spitfire, Mustang) in deference to Dresden.>

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't two of those names, Spitfire and Mustang, also names of fighter planes? Specifically American fighters in WWI or WWII?

Goutama,

Very nive post, great job. :)

1 million Athlon at ASP of 300
4 million K6's at ASP of 50

We got 5 million CPU with ASP of $100, $500 mil in revenues

250 mil from flash and another $80 mil from the communication group/other.

Total: $830 Million.

All these (except the ASP for Athlon) is conservative and we are already at a break even point. It seems that even after today there remains a whole lot of room for an upside surprise! WOW! :)
