>> apples to apples here?

Extremely provocative read, Frank ... thanks. Of course, the list is apples and oranges and fruit baskets ... but I don't see an implied comparison ... they are simply measuring brand response ... be interesting to see how these ranked in a broader test ... vs. Coke, Nike, Sony.

- I was quite pleased to see Discovery, History, and PBS ranked so high ... faith renewed.

- AOL ought to be able to leverage it's brand to a completely dominant position given the power of forthcoming technologies to diversify it's delivery options ... and I expect they will. This sort of brand recognition creates a lot of pull ... AOL can suck a lot into it's orbit.

- Something bothers me. I know what CNN stands for. I know what Discovery stands for. What does AOL stand for? What core value does it represent? "Having mail", I suppose ... being online, being connected ... access to information? It's a process value, rather like CNN. I suppose it bother me that these things are mapped onto the AOL technology, marketing, and advertising approaches. That makes me feel sad. I wish AOL stood for something I could respect.
