Yes, that is true, and, in fact, I dislike the term "self- actualization". However, since Maslow pretty much identified dedication to something outside oneself as an essential human need, there is not much harm done in that case.....The orientation of psychology is, obviously, going to be a "health model", and therefore one of perfection of the psyche. Whatever the philosophical inadequacy, if one is going to include any psychologists, an acceptance of their limitations comes with the territory....
