Edwarda, I have been following your water problem. May I make an observation? If the problem is a cracked shower floor as I believe you stated [a common problem ]a plumber is not what you need. You need a a hot mopper and tile man/womam. The tile will have to be torn off and the entire shower pan covered with hot tar then re tiled. Suggestion for the meantime, if you are friendly with the upstairs people invite them down to use your shower. For every time they use theirs you will be the beneficiary of shower water. This would benefit the owner of the building as well as this water is running along the top of your ceiling and as a consequence softening up the drywall/plaster on your ceiling in many places. Also if not corrected soon dry rot fungus will begin to grow on the wood timbers within your walls and ceiling not only weakening the structure but potentially creating allergy problems for all.
