Bombardier Aerospace: Dubai Air Show-Learjet 45 Makes Middle East Debut at Dubai Air Show/Hailed as one of the World's Most Sophisticated Business Jets NOVEMBER 15, 1999 DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES--Bombardier Aerospace's all-new Learjet(R) 45 business jet is making its first-ever appearance in the Middle East during Dubai 2000, the sixth biennial international aerospace exhibition being held at the Dubai Airport Exhibition Centre Nov. 14-18, 1999. The Learjet 45 on display at the show is operated by ExecuJet Aviation Group, a fast-growing, Swiss-based company active in the management, charter, leasing, sales and maintenance of Bombardier business aircraft in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. The Learjet 45, described by Paris-based Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI) as "one of the world's most sophisticated business jets," has captured a 55 per cent share of deliveries in the super-light business jet category after less than two years inservice. Reflecting the aircraft's breakthrough design, Bombardier was honored last month in Cyprus by the FAI for making a significant contribution to the progress of world aeronautics. The organization awarded the Bombardier team its Honorary Group Diploma for Aeronautics 1999-2000 at its annual General Conference. "No other business jet can fly higher, faster or further for a lower cost than the Learjet 45," stated John Lawson, president, sales, Bombardier Aerospace, Business Aircraft. "Its outstanding performance capabilities are being recognized by business aircraft operators around the world and we are scheduled to deliver the 50th aircraft by year-end. "The Learjet 45 has established nine world records for speed since its introduction into service last year. The fleet has chalked up in excess of 8,000 hours of flight hours with a "dispatch reliability record of 99.6 per cent," noted Mr. Lawson. Legendary performance The eight-to-nine passenger Learjet 45 is a 100 per cent all-new twin-turbofan business jet combining midsize jet comfort with light-jet economics and legendary Learjet performance. First customer deliveries of the aircraft began in early 1998 following one of the most thorough flight test and certification programs in corporate aviation history. Along with Bombardier's Global Express(R), the Learjet 45 is the only business aircraft in operation to be certified to the latest U.S. FAA and European JAA standards. The Learjet 45 development team leveraged the latest technology to maximize safety and efficiency and the aircraft stands to become the industry benchmark in its class. The Learjet 45 can operate at speeds up to Mach .81 and altitude up to 51,000 feet (15,545 m) above sea level and has a range of 2,120 nautical miles (3,926 km) - ideal for multiple missions in the Middle East region. Designed by utilizing NASA super computers, advanced solid modeling techniques and a design-build team concept, the Learjet 45 introduces new systems, power plant and structural advances to the light jet arena. Engineering efficiency and manufacturing simplification has resulted in a 60-per-cent reduction in assembled parts, providing a clear price advantage over competing aircraft.
