Anyone having any symptoms radiating from the neck & spine into the extremities should see a neurologist for a diagnosis. It was my neurosurgeon that sent to the PT using the Mackenzie Method.

According to Mackenzie, most disk problems result from incorrect posture. Especially while seated. The disks are continually being moved out of proper positioning until the disk wall becomes sufficiently weakened, and then bingo, you have a serious problem from usually something like bending over to pick up a pencil, sneezing, coughing, etc.

You have a little ticking time bomb in there waiting to "go off". The good news is that with the right exercises and posture, you can "ease" the disks back into alignment and pretty much keep them there. Once the disks are herniated you'll always have to be diligent in "maintaining" proper alignment, but you can have a healthy back and neck without resorting to surgery.
