I had some 3/8" steel shot that I bought with my first Wrist Rocket. There was a creek nearby that had a small outcropping of really clean clay. I snarfed 5 lb of it and worked it to a consistency that would have made a potter proud. Then I made a cylindrical target the size of a big soup can and punched a steel ball into it. I made these perfectly conical craters two inches across and four deep, with the ball nestled at the end. Pretty wicked. I never aimed that thing at anything I figured might get hurt, like a dog or my Dad's taillights.
(On his car.)

Once I made the clay a bit too moist and exploded it all over the brick wall backstop. That was cool also, but I lost a lot of precious clay and had to do some cleanup so as not to have to tell a story.
