Another recommendation for VARL tonight from DTF.

This is taken from a report titled "Profit leaders in leading groups"

....................

Vari-L's ($11; NASDAQ: VARL) September-quarter net income rose 29% to $965,000. Sales jumped 37% to $6.6 million. Per-share profits rose 14% to $0.16, beating expectations by $0.02. The growth reflected the continued resurgence of international markets and steady growth in domestic commercial infrastructure markets. The company also experienced accelerating demand for new products aimed at emerging broadband and subscriber markets.

Firm customer orders rose 16% to $5.3 million. In the quarter, Vari-L received $2.4 million in orders for high-end broadband components for wireless Internet applications. The stock is largely ignored by Wall Street; the one analyst who follows Vari-L expects per-share earnings to climb 23% to $0.72 in 2000. Vari-L offers a top "buy" among small-company stocks.
