I probably would have taken that Nov 30 as a gain, but maybe someone really wants to hold on to those 100 shares.

But why not wait until expiry.? What if VECO goes bankrupt tommorrow? Extreme, but want to get my point across. A deep ITM option is the same as stock. It's all intrinsic value. I see no advantage of exercising it early. Help me if I am wrong.
