I fully agree. And that's why MSFT retains the dominant position in my portfolio. In fact, I see little indication that the DOJ or the AG's are interested in threatening the value of MSFT stock. A leak a few months ago revealed that they attempted to hire bankers to analyze the stock-market reaction to various potential remedies. Unfortunately, they talked to sleazy bankers who ran to the press, but I'm sure they've found more trustworthy analysts in the meantime

I think it is a good thing if they are concerned about shareholders of the company. Of course restricting MSFT in being able to improve their operating system would not be good for shareholders. I think they realize how important MSFT is to the market and the American economy---and in keeping American dominance in this industry. Their worst fear would be for the PC industry to be handed over to the Japanese just like electronics and to some degree automobiles.
Maybe the DOJ/States' bark is worst than their bite.

BTW--I do not hold any MSFT right now but i trade in a tax sheltered account and can get back in with worrying about tax consequences. In a margin account, taxes would make it difficult to trade in and out.
Still planning to get back in slowly -ie- when the momentum turns positive.
It is my favorite stock and will always remain that way irespective of how well my other holdings do in the meantime!!
