THE SCHOOL for Information Technology and Management (Sitma) being initiated by the Kerala state government will offer Master's programme in leading infotech disciplines allied to management, state infotech secretary Aruna Sundararajan said here.

Sitma is being conceived as a national level institution on the lines of Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian institutes of Management (IIMs), and a key feature of the institution's academic programme will be a focus on emerging areas including knowledge management, Internet and multimedia technologies and entrepreneurship development.

Chief minister E K Nayanar is meeting eminent personalities from the information technology sector for a brain storming session to discuss the operational modalities of the school.

The Master's programme at the institute is scheduled to commence in June next year at the interim campus located at the Technopark near here.

A Rs 30-crore capital outlay is envisaged for Sitma and the permanent campus is planned to be set up at the Technopark campus in the next two years.
