Dear Valuepro,

Thank you for educating me. I live and learn something new everyday.

The island is half the time 370km NNW off Wales, it depends on the tide. When it is out the distance is roughly 368km.

However, it was measured by Remanie Fossil using his bicycle milometer and he probably laid it aside quite a number of times along the way to have a swig (he is our biggest alcohol consumer and the only one known to have strayed from the Sunday abstinence rule much to the dismay of our vicar).

Now I can hear you say how could he have ridden his cycle on the ocean bed.

Well simple really he was wearing a diving suit at the time.

What have you got against palm trees?

Because we don't age it is difficult to determine the exact time. All our clocks show twelve o'clock, noon. But I know that cannot be right because it is dark and the moon is illuminating Simon's bald patch.

Just hold on, I'll ask Unox whether it is a full moon.

Drunk again. He stumbled on to the chimney to have a closer look and fell down the drain pipe. He is being swept along the gutter towards the harbour jetty. I have to leave now to rescue him.

Oh yes, read my reply to Eddy Perry. Maybe you got it.

Crudestope.

Dear Valuepro,

I rescued Unox just in time. I sent him to the bath house for a good scrub, he stank.

Ten or so minutes ago I discovered that somebody, probably Goak Pangaea, played a prank. The compass and navigational instruments have been superglued. Goak, for your interest, has been trying for years to re-unite Laurasia and Gondwanaland.

What's more, the chain has been cut.

This is a disaster. The Isle of Crude sits on its own piece of tectonic plate and is anchored to an adjoining plate to prevent it floating away.

Now if Goak has finally succeeded it is possible that we are right in the middle of Florida or rather where Florida was last week.

I won't get any sleep tonight trying to sort this out. I have got these times when there are heaps of problems. That's the trouble with being the Big Sh..

Crudestope.

P.S. I think the assistance of Red Green The Handyman (Lilian Debray, message 4978) would be very helpful right now. The floor is covered with bodies. Dead for all I know.

No, we don't have a ski slope on the Isle of Crude. When we are anchored again I'll give it a thought.
