Another thing, MS will merge Win9x with NT codes, and use NT kernel as the new base. NT doesn't have any dominate position in its respective markets, so it doesn't subject to this case. Then two years later, a release of Win9x codes will be useless.

The problem with that so far is that it seems to be very difficult to get everything that worked under Win3.x and Win9x to work under WinNT. WinNT doesn't have drivers for a lot of hardware and just doesn't allow user code (vs sysadmin/supervisor code) to do some of the device manipulation that some programs require. I understand that we have some lab test equipment still running under either Win3.1 or Win95 instead of WinNT because of some hardware control issues.

Does anyone remember the name of the fellow who made the first complaint to the DOJ? I think his name was Clark.
