Welcome to the open thread, Sue. It's time the whole world knows we have a relationship <g>. Note: you can't sign yourself as "Lurker Sue" any more <vbg>.

I own gmst but not wind. We are a little further along in our analysis of gmst, and the analysis that NY Stew and Merlin shared with us convinced me to take my first step at diversification from Q100. I am a tough sell; it took those guys double teaming me for 2 months before I was convinced G had a shot at Gorilladom.

I'll step back now and let the wind advocates have their say.

i am now considering gemst or wind..both have a lot of substance and i was wondering do you own both and if not...which one you like better...?? is wind a canidate for g&k??

Sue, both GMST and WIND are on my W&W portfolio. That means they both have the potential to be QCOMs!!

Sue -
May I recommend a large dose of caution when considering WIND. Consider from the W&W portfolio:
WIND 29 3/16 +1 1/16 210.526 29 3/4 - 27 5/8 826 10,000 6,145 -3,855 -38.6%

That reads DOWN 38 percent YTD. I added to my WIND position in January at $34. I had been in it since before they landed on Mars. Got out in the high teens, on its way under $12. Now it has come back a lot, and maybe the new CEO will make it work, but that plunge hurt. Every time Mr Softy speaks the
CE stuff, WIND gets a chill. Folks just don't want to vote against dollar Bill. I like WINDs product, think it kicks butt to CE, but won't be buying the stock again. You may want to go back on the WIND thread and read some posts around the beginning of the year to get an idea of what things were like.
On the other hand, I bought some GMST here a couple months ago at 66 when a bunch of others here also bought. I see it taking a couple of years to reach 800 pounds, but then our March/April buys of (pre split) Q just hit the 800 pounds mark today.
Or you could buy a bit more Q. I added a small odd lot on 11/2 at 221 and look what it has done. You don't have to buy 100's.

Good investing,

William

t36: I agree with William's comments in post #10229. Every time Mr.Softy speaks, it causes investors to break WIND.

T36.

I have struggled a little with the same questions. Gemstar looks great in the long run. I bought a position a few weeks ago and it did well. However, I decided I was a kittle premature so sold it and bought WIND. It too, went well. Then I reconsidered and sold WIND to buy back the Gemstar. On Friday I felt like a genius.

Here is the problem. Both look great but I have more difficulty determining WIND's potential as a gorilla. But, it looks great and the real problem is not having enough capital to buy both. I am once again struggling with the decision to possibly sell all my EMC and buy one or both of Gemstar or Wind River.
