Back when I was diligent about trying to lose weight, I used to ride my bike on the W&OD to Leesburg and back. Finally I developed enough stamina to ride all the way to the end of the line, and back. It was awesome, the view, I mean, I come from Louisiana as I will tell anyone until their ears bleed, and this is different, mountains are very beautiful, especially small mountains that don't require a lot of energy to ride up and down. I've seen such beautiful things walking or riding on that trail, butterflies in the spring, ripe persimmons in the fall, wildflowers all year long. The best part was no cars, as it is, as you know, an old railroad right-of-way that's been converted to a bike/walk/horse path. No cars at all, except at a few crossings. For twenty five miles. Lovely.
