That is bad news. Hopefully it will still go through. I think WCOM fully expects it will have to sell certain parts of Sprint but it needs the wireless piece. If they don't let WCOM have Sprint then as Bernie says, there is no counterbalance to T and the Baby Bells, they still retain control as kissing cousins. The bad thing is that one of the big European Teleco's will come in and snatch Sprint. IMHO

<'There are two titans that have the potential to establish telephone hegemony -- AT&T and the Bell operating companies,'> just got back from an affair where i asked bill freeman if he thinks bam can kick att's ass. his reply was "thats a big butt to kick". they have the money to keep plowing into their technology whether its good or bad and they have the marketing clout. everyday people don't know the difference between cdma/tdma and a hole in the ground. unlike intel who created brand awareness. cdma has no brand awareness. i was dissapointed that i couldn't talk shop with him more, but considering he was there as the humanitarian of the yr. for deborah heart and lung center, qualcomm and cdma took a back seat tonight. for those unfamiliar with deborah. they are one of the premier heart and lung institutes in the world, where no one ever recieves a bill. tonight was their annual children of the world event. this program which is wholly supported by donations, picks a country each yr. where the surgical team goes to preform training to doctors in third world countries and performs state of the art surgery on infants and small children who are basically on death row. these children have no chance of survival due to their countries lack of expertise/funds and equipment. tonight we featured a 2 yr. old boy from kosovo. his heart problems were so severe that the team could not save him in kosovo, so they flew the child and his family to nj where they performed several operations. the child is now expected to live a full and normal life. deborah has performed 3000 such life saving operations. what has been happening to me and all of us with Q lately has just been put into perspective for me. the following is the little i was able to get from our brief shop talk. 1. don't expect att to capitulate anytime soon.tdam will not go down so easily. 2. bam will converge all technologies into cdma nationwide. 3. bill said that wireless internet will be bigger then anyone can imagine now. as big as you can think it will be, it will wind up being bigger much bigger. 4. lynn, he said that gte customers will absolutely have the same services that bell atlantic customers have. he said it was the same situation when they took over nynex. he chuckled when i said one of my internet mates said that gte service sucks. even though bill is a fortune 500 ceo, he is a down to earth human being you can talk to. 5. to the asshole who asked me to ask him how bout those jets. he's a giant fan, you asshole. 6. sorry i couldn't contribute more. goodnight everybody, sweet Q dreams. cfm feeling happy in the heart.
