You've got it reversed. My point was that the rambus price premium is too high, but that if rambus made a real performance difference, it might be possible to market a 64meg rambus machine against a 128 meg PC133 machine - in which case the price difference would be greatly reduced 500/250 instead of 1000/250. Then when the cost comes down to down to double that of PC133 (which should happen at some point in Y2K), rambus would be competitive.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much of a performance difference between the two technologies, so equal amounts of memory will be necessary for machines using either type of RAM.
