Gateway to Sell Advanced Web Equipment in Japan, Nikkei Says

Tokyo, Nov. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Gateway Inc., the No. 2 direct seller of personal computers, will start to sell advanced Internet connection equipment, to be developed with America Online Inc., in Japan, the Nihon Keizai reported, citing Gateway President Jeffrey Weitzen. Gateway is currently developing the equipment and software line with AOL and will release it next year. ``Gateway and AOL have similar goals in the Japanese market,' Derek Schneideman, president of Gateway 2000 Japan Inc. said.

Gateway Chairman and founder Ted Waitt Friday filed to sell 3 million shares, worth $229 million, after the company's stock hit a record high.
