I think I may have used the word sentiment wrongly here... I view it as a tide of buying and selling and it oscilates above and below zero by about 10,000 issues during the normal course of calculations over time..... when it approaches -10,000 to -12,000 it marks the approach of a major bottom and visa versa.... I like to think of it as the flow of the tide of investors going in and out of the market.....

I use it as one of several indicators, but it's very reliable as a measure of the recent trend in tide direction.... once you plot the a/d line for several months, you'll begin to see the flow very easily..... I keep it in my excel and it's easy to keep up, the chart updates automatically each day as I plug in the numbers each day.....
