Investor optimism for Qualcomm will continue after the
holidays, analysts said. The company is benefiting as wireless
technology begins to merge with the Internet. Developments such
as Sprint Corp.'s August unveiling of Web access through its
Sprint PCS wireless network are speeding the development,
analysts said.
''Investors are starting to look for opportunities for the
next (technology) revolution,'' said Dave Powers, an analyst at
Edward Jones, who rates Qualcomm a ''buy.'' ''Qualcomm fits
squarely at the vortex'' of wireless networks and the World Wide
Web.
