OT: who would disagree that medical care is better than guns; but simple fact of government is that the first duty of gov is to protect safety of citizens so defense has to be acknowledged. Nitpik: last time I checked Phila was not in MASS and my argument is about what happens to those gov financed educ after (involuntarily) serving poor pts during educ. Lastly (but not of course finally) those hospitals lose more money bec of their obsession with equipment than bec of patient care and their response to hiring more staff is to find the least qualified (read cheapest) labor they can find for actual patient contact: what's that msg?
