Not exactly the same problem...but.

I've experienced similar behavior on my machine recently. Last weekend I was checking out etoys and clicked on a page and a totally different site came up (one I'd never been to). I heard something about crackers planting "hot keys"...I guess it somehow over rides the link that you intended to click on? This uninvited link would reappear randomly.

After I shut the computer down and rebooted the problem disappeared.

Hidden links???

First, I'd empty your cache. Click View, Internet Options, Delete Temporary Internet files button. In IE5, this stuff is under Tools instead of View.

To be on the safe side, re-boot immediately after you do this.
