Thanks for the constructive input. FYI, I have two QCharts licenses which I've run at various times from a total of five machines in four locations, four NT, one W98. I'm setting here two miles from QCharts Mountain View servers, using a Los Altos ISP, unfortunately that doesn't help. From my main trading location in Palo Alto, I'm on a rock-solid T1 Frame Relay line into a tier-1 ISP, which has basically ZIP packet loss -- they post their packet loss statistics on the web during the day, they're outstanding. I run a RTIII feed over the same line, no problems with the internet-delivered real-time quotes on that feed/charting package. Also, using the WOW FDCN servers (www.windowonwallstreet.com) to obtain real-time data from their price servers in Texas over the internet, had relatively few problems compared to QCharts -- never anything of this magnitude, only an occasional a rare data slowdown. I've also used our backup Concentric 56Kbps Frame Relay connection from a second location with QCharts, same problem, a Cable Modem connection, same problem, a Pac Bell DSL connection, three different Ricochet/Metricom connections, various 56K dial-in connections -- all with consistently the same QCharts problems (tracert's fine, no excessive hops, no evidence of major router congestion or backup on several ISP's I've used) so I'm skeptical that it's simply a problem of their data getting backed up in the internet. I have no doubt that QCharts is successfully delivering data to some customers including yourself (and have been through periods where that was true for me as well), but I doubt if the explanation is simply that the internet is backed up on the West Coast, points to the root of the actual problem. The evidence points strongly to this being a problem with the behaviour of their servers (and they have admitted to serious problems in that department).

The reason for my irritation with them -- aggravated by their embarrassingly poor customer support -- is that I've been hanging in there for quite a while now with the product, even adding a second license, and they have been promising all along that they were going to improve things with their servers, close to a solution, etc. Instead, their system's performance degraded sharply, we don't hear from them. By now I have quite a learning curve/setup investment in the product, and it's going to be a big project to switch over to something else.

Thankfully, I still have other feeds and tools that are quite reliable. An S&P Comstock dish, rock-solid, driving WOW and First Alert, a Real-Tick III feed/charting from MBT/Terranova, etc. so my trading operation can run smoothly during the transition.
